编者按
新概念英语第二册detectives,近期detectives我专门看detectives了一下,觉得非常适合高中衔接课程。第一,文章精美短小detectives;第二,涵盖的生词汇都是高中写作必备词汇。我私下揣摩,如果学生真能读熟了,写作表达绝对不会差。没有必要追求高大上的表达,第二册的短文语言就是地道自然的输出。
我于是有个想法,把新二里面的好词好句都拿出来讲讲,看看这些词如果在高中写作中该如何运用,还有这些词在高考单选或者阅读中又会主要呈现哪些意思。
当然,初中学生可能很多都学过这本书,但是毕竟是基于中考的格局,因此我觉得你还是应该听听的。
我打算花12时讲完,每个小时8篇,因此需要你提前预习一下。

1. 副词修饰动词(said rudely; look at the woman angrily)
Be doing sth. 一般进行时
2. Seat --》Vt. be seated.坐下
3. Turn round转过身;--》(使)〔业务、部门等〕好转,扭转:
The company turned around from losses of £1.4 million last year to profits of £26,800.
公司由去年的亏损 140 万英镑扭转为盈利 2.68 万英镑。
3. Hear的用法
句中的 hear 即是一种有意识的活动,意谓“听取”。这种 hear 常用在由 let 引导的句子结构中。再如:
(1)Let me hear you say it.
(2)Let's hear his explanation.
此外,下面句子中的 hear 也都意谓“听取”或“倾听”:
(3)I should like to hear what you have to say.
(4)None are so deaf as those who will not hear.
另外请注意 hear 还常用于听讲话、报告、音乐表演等,如:
(5)Did you hear Peter's talk yesterday?
(6)I'm going to hear a concert this evening.
4. Bear
同义词:tolerate, stand
1.He couldn't bear living alone.他忍受不了单独的生活。
2.Some people cannot bear travelling by sea.有些人忍受不了海上旅行。
3.I can't bear to see/seeing people suffering. 我不忍看人受苦。
[试译]他不能忍受被人取笑。
如同deserve, need, require, want等动词一样,作“值得”解的动词bear之后的动名词的主动形式也表示被动:
1.Those things won't bear thinking of. 那些事情不值得去想。
2.Your joke will bear repeating. 你的笑话令人百听不厌。
bear作“忍受”解时de 动名词的被动形式常考:
I can't bear being kept waiting. 我无法忍受别人叫我长时间地等候。
5. Business所关心的事
? that's none of your business! 这不干你的事detectives!
? you've no business doing that! 你无权那样做!
? mind your own business! 少管闲事!
